ઉ.દા. સાવરકુંડલા તાલુકાના લગભગ બધાજ ગામોમાં ગામોમાં શ્રેણી:સાવરકુંડલામાં હોવાને નાતે આપોઆપ જ શ્રેણી:અમરેલી જિલ્લામાંં છે કેમકે સાવરકુંડલા તાલુકો આ શ્રેણીની ઉપશ્રેણી છે માટે બધા જ લેખો તે શ્રેણીમાં રિપિટ કરવાની આવશ્યકતા નથી.
 
ચર્ચા:
આનિયમ અનુસાર વાનગીને લાગતા લેખની શ્રેણીના પેટા વિભાગ આમ હોવા જોઈએ : ખીર->મીઠાઈ->વાનગી->ભોજન->ખોરાક. જો આપણે નવી નીતિ અમલમાં મુકીએ તો ખીરના લેખમાં માત્ર એક જ શ્રેણી હોવી જોઈએ : મીઠાઈ. પણ આ લેખમાં અને વાનગીને લાગતા અન્ય
લેખમાં ખોરાક, વાનગી જેવી શ્રેણીઓ મુકાઈ છે.
 
વાનગીઓની શ્રેણી તો એક નાની શ્રેણી છે. કદાચ આ સ્તરે વાંધો ન આવે. પણ જો દરેક નાના ગામડાની શ્રેણીમાં ભૂગોળ આ શ્રેણી મુકીએ તો વિચાર કરો કે આ ભૂગોળ શ્રેણી કેવડી મોટી થઈ જશે. (કદાચ ૮૦% ગુજરાતી વિકી આ શ્રેણીમાં સમાઈ જાય) આમ તે ભૂગોળની શ્રેણી ન બની રહેતાં "ગામડાગોળ" શ્રેણી બની જાય. ( તેમાં ભૌગોલિક લેખ ભાગ્યે જ હોય.) તે હિસાબે ગામડાના લેખમાં તાલુકાની શ્રેણી મુકી શકાય , તલુકામાં જિલ્લાની, જિલ્લામાંં રાજ્યની, રાજ્યમાં દેશની, દેશમાં ખંડની, ખંડમાં ગ્રહની કે ભૂગોળ એમ શ્રેણી મૂકી શકાય. જો ઉપર જણાવેલ નીતિ આપણે અનુસરીએ તો ગામડા, જિલ્લા, શહેર આદિમાં ભૂગોળ આ શ્રેણી હોવી જોઈએ નહીં. તથા ખીરના લેખમાં વાનગી આ શ્રેણી જોઈએ નહીં.

::આભાર સુશાંતભાઈ, હાલ ભૂગોળની શ્રેણીમાં ૧૬,૮૯૦ લેખો છે એમાનાં મોટાભાગે આપ જેમ કહો છો તે રીતે "ગામડાગોળ" શ્રેણી છે. ગઈકાલે એક તાલુકાની શ્રેણીને ઠીક કરી તો તેના પર પાણી ફરી વળ્યુ. મને ખબર નહી કે હું દરીયાકિનારાની રેત પર લખી રહ્યો છું અને દરીયો એના સમયે આવીને બધુ ભુસી નાખશે. ખેર, એક જ શ્રેણી હોવી જોઇએ એમ હું નથી કહેવા માંગતો પણ કોઇ એક વર્ટીકલમાંની એક શ્રેણીજ હોવી જોઈએ. પરંતુ જિલ્લા, તાલુકા અને ગામડાના લેખને લાગે વળગે છે ત્યાં સુધી મારૂ સુચન એમ છે કે ગામડાનાં લેખમાં જિલ્લાની પણશ્રેણી રાખવી. અંગ્રેજી વિકિપીડિયા પર "શ્રેણીઓ કેવી હોવી જોઈએ" એ મતલબની માર્ગદર્શિકા છે જે મને જેટલુ સમજાય છે ત્યાં સુધી એમ કહે છે કે અત્યંત "સાંકડી" શ્રેણીઓ બનાવવાનુ ટાળવું. જો જિલ્લાની શ્રેણીમાં ફક્ત તાલુકા મુકિએ તો એ શ્રેણીઓ "સાંકડી" શ્રેણીઓની વ્યાખ્યામાં આવી જાય કેમકે મોટા ભાગના જિલ્લાઓમાં ૧૦ થી ૧૫ તાલુકાઓજ રહેવાના અને જિલ્લાની અંદરની તાલુકાની શ્રેણીઓ વધીને કોઇ દિવસ સેંકડોની સંખ્યા પણ નથી આંબવાની. એ સંજોગોમાં મારો નમ્ર અભિપ્રાય એ છે કે જિલ્લામાંં તાલુકાની શ્રેણીઓ દેખાય અને નીચે ગામડાઓની યાદી પણ આવે જેથી શ્રેણી સાંકડી પણ ના રહે. આશા છે કે સહુની સહમતિ મળશે.--[[સભ્ય:Tekina|Tekina]] ૧૬:૫૪, ૧૨ જાન્યુઆરી ૨૦૧૨ (UTC)
 
:::મિત્ર ટેકિનાજીએ ઉઠાવેલો મુદ્દો રસપ્રદ છે, યોગ્ય છે, તેમાં મારી અલ્પમતિ અનૂસાર એક સુધારો જણાવું. જિલ્લાની શ્રેણીમાં તાલુકા ઓછા હોવાનાં પરંતુ આપ જિલ્લાનાં દરેક ગામમાં ’શ્રેણી:અબક જિલ્લો’ ઉમેરો તે કરતાં ’શ્રેણી:કખગ તાલુકો’ને જ ’શ્રેણી:અબક જિલ્લો’ની ઉપશ્રેણી બનાવી અને ગામડાના લેખમાં ’શ્રેણી:કખગ તાલુકો’ એટલું જ આપો એટલે આપોઆપ બધાજ ગામ ’શ્રેણી:અબક જિલ્લો’ હેઠળ યાદીમાં આવી જશે. આમ વધુ આગળ વિચારતાં એક સંપૂર્ણ શ્રેણીવૃક્ષ તૈયાર થશે. શક્ય બનશે તો ટુંક સમયમાં હું આ માટે એક નમૂનારૂપ શ્રેણીવૃક્ષ ગોઠવીશ. :::એક રીતે જોઈએ તો વર્ગીકરણ ના પ્રશ્ન પર હું સુશાંત ભાઈ ને ટેકો આપું છુ. મારા મતે જ્યારે આપણે ગુજરાતી વિકિપીડિયા પર વર્ગીકરણ માટે નિયમો બનાવતા હોય તો અંગ્રેજી વિકિપીડિયા પર template અને categorization જોઈ લેવા હું સર્વ ને વિનંતિ કરું છુ. દાખલા તરીકે જ્યારે અંગ્રેજી વિકિપીડિયા પર jamnagar નો લેખ ચકાસસો ત્યારે પાના ના અંત ઉપર એક Gujarat state નું template નજર માં આવશે, તે template detail માં જોવા વિનંતિ. એવી જ રીતે અંગ્રેજી વિકિપીડિયા પર જ pune નો લેખ ચકાસો, ત્યારે તેમાં multiple templates જોવા મળશે. જો ગુજરાતી વિકિપીડિયા પર ભી આપણે આવીજ રીતે templates બનાવીએ તો વર્ગીકરણ સહેલું થશે. મિત્રો, રંગીલાજીના સુઝાવ અનુસાર, શું એવી જોગવાઈ કરી શકાય કે નાના એકમના લેખમાં એક સ્તર ઉપરની શ્રેણી (કે વારસાગત શ્રેણી સિવાયની અન્ય સંબંધિત શ્રેણી) મુકવી તે સિવાય ટેમ્પલેટ મુકવા?
દા.ત. ગામડાના લેખમાં તલુકાની શ્રેણી મુકવી તે સિવાય દરેક જિલ્લા નું એક ટેમ્પલેટ બનાવવું તેને સંબંધિત ગામડાની શ્રેણીમાં મુકવું. વળી રાજ્યનું પણ એક ટેમ્પલેટ બનાવવું અને ગુજરાતને લાગતાં દરેક લેખમાં તેને પણ મુકવું.
 
મને લાગે છે આમ કરતાં આપણે ભૂગોળ કે જે તે જિલ્લાની લાંબી લચક શ્રેણીઓ કરતાં બચીશું અને વાચકને વધુ ઉપયોગિ જાણકારી મળી રહેશે.

:::મિત્રો, જો ગામડાના લેખમાં આપણે તાલુકા અને જિલ્લાની એમ બન્ને શ્રેણીઓ ઉમેરીએ તો જ્યારે જિલ્લાની શ્રેણી જોવામાં આવે ત્યારે '''આ શ્રેણીમાં નિચે ની શ્રેણીઓ છે''' એ વિભાગમાં બધી તાલુકાની શ્રેણીઓ આવે છે અને પછી '''આ શ્રેણીમાં નિચે મુજબના પાના છે''' એ મથાળા નિચે બધા ગામના પાનાની યાદી આવે છે જે જિલ્લા વિષેની સંપુર્ણ માહીતી હાથવગી અને ઉપયોગી રીતે પીરસવાની એક સારી રીત હોઇ શકે છે ઉપરાંત ટેમ્પ્લેટ બનાવવાની જરૂર પણ ન રહે. ઉપરાંત ક્રોસ-રેફરંસ માટે અન્ય વર્ટિકલની લાગુ પડતી શ્રેણીઓ ઉમેરવાની શક્યતા પણ ખુલ્લી રાખવી જોઇએ. જેમકે ભાવનગરજિલ્લાનું ગોપનાથ એ એક ગામ હોવા ઊપરાંત એક સુંદર દરિયાકીનારાનું સ્થળ છે અને એ સ્થળનાં ઇતિહાસ મુજબ પાંડવો એ બનાવેલ શિવાલય પણ છે આથી જો આપણે માર્ગદર્શિકાને અનુસરવું હોય તો આ બધી શ્રેણીઓ માં ગોપનાથ ઉમેરવાની છુટ હોવી જોઇએ. અભાર.--[[સભ્ય:Tekina|Tekina]] ૦૩:૫૭, ૧૩ જાન્યુઆરી ૨૦૧૨ (UTC)

* મિત્રો, સરસ ચર્ચા કરી. આ ચર્ચા સાથે હું સહમત છું. અને ઉપર જણાવેલ નીતિને આ ચર્ચા ટેકો જ આપે છે. જો લેખમાં ઉપશ્રેણી આવે પછી મુખ્ય શ્રેણીની જરૂર નથી. હાલ ભલે અમુક શ્રેણીઓમાં થોડો ગોટાળો ચાલતો હોય પરંતુ એક સર્વમાન્ય નીતિ નક્કી કર્યા પછી તેનાથી માહેતગાર એવા આપણા જેવા મિત્રો, થોડી મહેનત કરીને, તેને સુવ્યવસ્થિત ઢબે ગોઠવી શકે ખરા. ટેમ્પલેટ્સ દ્વારા સ્વચાલિત રીતે શ્રેણી આપી શકાય, એ દરમિયાન, ટેમ્પલેટ ઉપલબ્ધ ન હોય ત્યાં નીતિને અનુસરી જાતે શ્રેણી ગોઠવીએ. અજાણ મિત્રોએ, નવા લેખમાં, કદાચ શ્રેણી ગોઠવવામાં થોડી ક્ષતિ રાખી હોય તો જેને ધ્યાને આવે તેમણે નિઃસંકોચ વ્યાજબી ઢબે શ્રેણી ગોઠવી આપવી. હવે હું મારી મતિ અનૂસાર એક ઉદા. લખું જેમાંથી પણ વ્યાજબી જણાય તેટલા પર વિચારવા વિનંતિ.
ઉદા: [[જુનાગઢ]] લેખ, ઘણી શ્રેણીઓ હેઠળ આવી શકે, જેમકે, ગુજરાતનાં શહેરો અને નગરો, ગુજરાતના જિલ્લાઓ, જુનાગઢ જિલ્લો, જુનાગઢ તાલુકો, ગુજરાતના પ્રવાસન ધામો, ગુજરાતના યાત્રાધામો, જુનાગઢ વગેરે (કેમ કે તે શહેર, તાલુકો અને જિલ્લો પણ છે). તો આ બધી જ શ્રેણી અપાય. પરંતુ તેને 'ગુજરાત' શ્રેણી આપવી નકામી થશે. કેમકે ઉપર જણાવેલી બધી જ શ્રેણીઓ 'ગુજરાત' શ્રેણીની ઉપશ્રેણી બનાવી શકાય. એજ રીતે તેના કોઈ તાલુકા [[સુત્રાપાડા]]ને માત્ર શ્રેણી: ’સુત્રાપાડા તાલુકો’, ’જુનાગઢ જિલ્લો’ અને ’ગુજરાતનાં તાલુકા મથકો’ આપવી બસ થઈ રહે. તો વળી સુત્રાપાડા તાલુકાનાં કોઈ એક ગામ [[અલીધ્રા (તા. સુત્રાપાડા)]]ને માત્ર શ્રેણી: ’સુત્રાપાડા તાલુકો’ અને ’ગુજરાતનાં ગામો’, આપવી બસ થઈ પડે. તે જ રીતે એક લેખ બને 'ઉપરકોટ (જુનાગઢ)' તેને 'જુનાગઢ' શ્રેણી આપી અને 'જુનાગઢ' શ્રેણીને 'ગુજરાતનાં શહેરો અને નગરો','ગુજરાતના યાત્રાધામો','ગુજરાતના પ્રવાસન ધામો' નામક ત્રણે શ્રેણીની ઉપશ્રેણી બનાવાય તે ઉપરાંત 'ગુજરાતના કિલ્લાઓ' કે 'ગુજરાતના રક્ષિત સ્મારકો’ એવી શ્રેણી વળી અલગથી અપાય. (આશા રાખું હું આ જટીલ સંરચના સમજાવી શક્યો હોઉં !) ટુંકમાં દરેક લેખ એક કરતાં વધુ શ્રેણી ધરાવી શકે છતાં બીનજરૂરી કે સાવ નકામી એવી શ્રેણી ન ધરાવે તે ખાસ જોવું પડે અને સાથોસાથ શોધનારને શક્ય તેટલા યોગ્ય વર્ગીકરણમાં તે પ્રાપ્ત થાય. :આભાર અશોકભાઈ. મેં ઉપર મારો સંદેશો લખ્યો છે જે પણ જોઈ જશો. તમે કહ્યું છે તેમ કાળક્રમે કોઈક કારણોસર જો અયોગ્ય શ્રેણી લેખોમાં વપરાઈ ગઈ હોય તો તેને દૂર કરવી ઘટે. આપે જણાવ્યું તે પ્રમાણેની વય્વસ્થા હાલ અસ્તિત્વમાં છે જ. તમે જે જૂનાગઢ શહેરનું ઉદાહરણ આપ્યું તે ઉત્કૃષ્ઠ છે, આવી જ રીતે દરેક તાલુકા મથકોને આપણે જે તે તાલુકાની શ્રેણીમાં અને તે જિલ્લાની શ્રેણીમાં એમ બંનેમાં મુકીએ છીએ, કેમકે તે જિલ્લાનો મોટો એકમ છે. આ ઉપરાંત તે લેખ ગુજરાતના નગરોની શ્રેણીમાં પણ વર્ગિકૃત કરેલો હોય છે, તે પાછળનું એક જ લોજિક છે કે જો તે સ્થળને તાલુકા મથકનો દરજ્જો મળ્યો છે તો તે ગામ કરતા મોટું હોવું જોઇએ (આ પણ અન્ય એક ચર્ચા છે કે ઘણી ગ્રામ પંચાયતો નગરો અને શહેરોની શ્રેણીમાં છે, જે મારા મતે આપણે લોકોએ શરૂઆતમાં અપનાવેલી નીતિને કારણે હોઈ શકે). આમ ઘણા લેખો એક કરતા વધુ શ્રેણીમાં સમાવેલા છે, પરંતુ જરૂર દરેક લેખને એક શ્રેણી અને તે જ શ્રેણીની ઉપરી શ્રેણીમાં પણ સમાવવા સામેના તમારા, સુશાંતભાઈના અને રંગીલાજીના મત સાથે હું સહમત છું.
:રંગીલાજીએ જે સુચન કર્યું છે તેવું પણ આપણે થોડેઘણે અંશે કરેલું જ છે. જેમકે આપણા જીતેન્દ્રસિંહ ઘણા તાલુકાના ગામોના ઢાંચા બનાવી ચુક્યાં છે (કદાચ રાજકોટ જિલ્લાના તાલુકાઓ) અને તાજેતરમાં જ સુશાંતભાઈએ આવા જ અન્ય એક તાલુકાના ઢાંચા વિષે પ્રશ્ન ઉઠાવ્યો હતો. તે જ રીતે ગુજરાતના જિલ્લાઓનો ઢાંચો તથા ભારતના રાજ્યો અને કેન્દ્રશાસિત પ્રદેશોનો ઢાંચો પણ અસ્તિત્વમાં છે અને ઘણા લેખોમાં ઉમેરેલો પણ છે. જો એવા કોઈ લેખો ધ્યાને ચઢે કે જેમાં આ ઢાંચા ના હોય તો અવશ્ય તેમાં ઉમેરવાના કાર્યમાં આપણે જોતરાઈ જવું જોઇએ.

જે ઉદ્દેશ્ય થી મેં ગુજરાતી વિકિપીડિયા પર editing શરુ કરેલું, તેના તરફ હું ધીરે ધીરે આગળ વધી રહ્યો છુ. એટલે મેં ૨ javascript ના પેજ બનાવેલ છે જે તમે અહિયાં જોઈ શકશો [[સભ્ય:Rangilo_Gujarati/media.js]] and [[સભ્ય:Rangilo_Gujarati/common.js]] આમાંથી બીજી સ્ક્રીપ્ટ નું ઉપયોગ બહુ ફાયદા કારક છે, જો આપ લોકો ભી આ સ્ક્રીપ્ટ નું .js વાળું પેજ તમારા namespace ની અંદર બનાવો તો, ડાબી બાજુ માં રહેલ toolbox કે સાધન પેટીમાં એક Quick Changelog બટન આવી જાય જેના પર ક્લિક કરવા થી એક pop up window આવે અને તેમાં recent changes કે તાજા ફેરફારો બતાય. હાલ માં હું એડમીન નથી એટલે આ બધી વસ્તુ સર્વ સભ્યો માટે ચાલુ નહિ કરી શકું, એટલે હું મારા થકી જ અખતરા કરીશ. જો આપ કોઈ ને ભી આમાં જોડાવાની ઈચ્છા હોય તો મારો સંપર્ક સાધવો. ટૂંક સમયમાં જ હું એક tagger તરીકે ઓળખાતી સ્ક્રીપ્ટ લઇ આવીશ કે જેના થી પેજ ને હટાળવા માટે આપણે manually delete નહિ લખવું પડે અને direct button જ દબાવાનું રહેશે. આભાર. આપ બધાને કામ ગમ્યું તે જાણી ને ખુશ છુ. સુશાન્તભાઈ પહેલા આપનો સવાલ લઉં, તો જી નાં આપને આની માટે java સ્ક્રીપ્ટ આવડવી જોઈએ તે જરૂરી નથી, પણ થોડું ઘણું સહેજ ધ્યાન આપીએ તો સહેલું પડે. namespace નો મારો અર્થ હતો કે જો તમારે કોઈ special function એક્ટીવેટ કરવું હોય તો તમારે તેને લગતી સ્ક્રીપ્ટ આવી રીતે મુકવાની સભ્ય:YourUserid / script .js આ વસ્તુ ને તમારા namespace અંદર કહી શકાય કારણ કે તે તમારા userid જોડે જ રહેશે. તો જો આપને અત્યારે QuickChangelog ની સ્ક્રીપ્ટ જોઈતી હોય તો [[સભ્ય:Rangilo_Gujarati/common.js]] અહિયાં થી વચ્ચેના ચોકઠાં માં થી content કોપી કરી લો અને તમારા id ની સાથે બરોબર આ પ્રમાણે જ જોડી લ્યો. અને રહી વાત આ બધાજ user માટે કરવાની તો પછી ધવલભાઈએ આજ વસ્તુ ને મીડિયાવિકિ:Gadget-script કરવું પડે. હાલમાં ગુજરાતી વિકિપીડિયા પર કોઈ પણ પ્રકાર ના gadgets નથી, તેથી હું સર્વ ને વિનંતિ કરું કે તે individually સ્ક્રીપ્ટ થીજ કામ ચલાવે. આપણે ધીરે ધીરે gadgets તરફ વધીશું. અને હું પણ tagger પર કામ ટૂંક સમયમાં ચાલુ કરી નાખીશ. આભાર. થોડા ઘણા અખતરા બાદ મેં tagger સ્ક્રીપ્ટ નું ગુજરાતી વિકિપીડિયા પર સફળતાપૂર્વક અમલ કર્યું છે. તમારે પણ જો tagger વાપરવું હોય તો આ પ્રમાણે કરો. હું તેમ માની ને ચાલુ છુ કે આપ બધા Vector નો જ ઉપયોગ કરતા હશો, તો આ પ્રમાણે કરવું.સભ્ય:YourUserId/vector.js ની અંદર [[સભ્ય:Rangilo_Gujarati/vector.js]] માં થી વચ્ચે નાં ચોકઠાં માં થી માત્ર પહેલી જ લીટી કોપી કરો અને તમારા vector.js માં પેસ્ટ કરી દ્યો. બીજી કોઈ સ્ક્રીપ્ટ હાલ માં નહિ લેતા કારણ કે તેમાં મારા અખતરા ચાલુ છે. પછી પેજ સેવ કરી cache clear કરી ને લોડ કરશો એટલે તમને ઉપર ની બાજુ માં ક્યાંક Tag નામનું બટન દેખાશે, બસ એજ છે આપનું હથિયાર, કોઈ પણ નવા બિનઉપયોગી પેજ ને delete કરવા માગતા હોવ તો તેના પર ક્લિક કરી આગળ વધો. આશા છે બધાને આ વસ્તુ ગમે. કોઈ પણ તકલીફ પડે તો પૂછતા અચકાશો નહિ. હાલ માં મેં તે સ્ક્રીપ્ટ નું localisation કે ભાષાંતર કર્યું નથી, સમય મળશે એટલે તે પણ કરી નાખીશું. આભાર. Dear All
 
I am writing to share with you a very inspiring initiative regarding health and medicine articles on Wikipedia. Crores of Wikipedia readers read up about health related issues either when they or their loved ones fall ill or before or after they have consulted doctors or when they are curious about a particular disease or drug. In fact, quite a few doctors and nurses also read up these articles to improve their knowledge.
 
Wikipedia's medical articles have 15-20 crore page views every month. The top 300 articles are viewed more than 1 lakh times every month. The challenge is that the majority of these articles are only available in English.
 
This initiative (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Medicine/Translation_task_force) has been conceptualised by WikiProject Medicine, Wikimedia Canada and very interesting organisation called [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Translators_Without_Borders Translators Without Borders]. It seeks to translate a set of 80 of the most important health care articles into as many languages as possible.
 
Given the state of our health care system as well as the increasing readership of Indic language projects, there is huge positive impact that we can have if we participate in this initiative and have these articles in all Indic languages. The project page (referenced above) includes an outline of the project, FAQs, useful links and a sign up for interested volunteers.
 
Gujarati Wikipedians can join this effort by creating a wikiproject for this in Gujarati wikipedia. Remember, you don't have to be a health care professional to help out. All you have to do is simply care.
 
I am really happy to inform you that few Indic languages have already signed up for this wonderful project. Of these 3 languages - Assamese, Tamil, and Malayalam - have already started wiki project and started working on articles (really big comprehensive articles) related to Medicine.

* Odia community had a great weekend between March 30 and April 2 - including 3 outreach sessions and 1 community meetup. આપની વીકી એ થોડા દિવસો પેહલા 22,000+ પેજ નો આંકડો પાર કર્યો પણ આપડે કેટલા પાછળ છે તે જાણવું હોય તો જોવો કે http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/ - આ વેબસાઈટ વીકી જ છે પણ તે માત્ર ને માત્ર પોકેમોન - જે એક ગેમ અને એનીમેશન સીરીઝ નું નામ છે , તેના માટે જ બનાવેલી છે અને તેના પર 21,268 artical છે . વિચાર કરો એક ગેમ ની વીકી અત્યાર સુધી આપડા થી આગળ છે અને એવું નહિ કે ત્યાં બહુ બદ્ધા લેખો સ્ટબ છે ... ત્યાના મારી ગણતરી પ્રમાણે 90% થી વધુ article non-સ્ટબ છે . આપડે આપડી વીકી માં સુધારો કરી રહ્યા છે પણ તેને વેગ આપવાની જરૂર છે .

Greetings! Here is a [http://osdir.com/ml/general/2012-05/msg54746.html small update] on the [http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/India_Program/Pilot_Designs/Social_Media Social Media pilot] supported by India Program. This pilot is running on two Facebook groups for Wikipedia activities: one in English (One is [https://www.facebook.com/groups/wikipediasupport/ You can also write on Wikipedia]) and one in [https://www.facebook.com/groups/OdiaWiki/ Odia (Odia Wikipedia)]. Both of these are being piloted to see if we can explain the very basics of editing to new editors and to encourage them to make their first basic edits. This is done You can visit these groups to see the regular editing sessions that we are conducting there. So far, we have been able to get 30 first time editors in English and 10 in Odia - all of whom have completed a few basic tasks (like creating usernames, corrected mistakes, adding references, inter-wiki links!)
 
Facebook is a useful way of engaging with young users because they are more comfortable there. The Wikimedia Foundation is planning to do limited testing of IPv6 on June 2-3. If there are not too many problems, we may fully enable IPv6 on [http://www.worldipv6day.org/ World IPv6 day] (June 6), and keep it enabled.
 
What this means for your project:
 
*At least on June 2-3, 2012, you may see a small number of edits from IPv6 addresses, which are in the form "<code>2001:0db8:85a3:0000:0000:8a2e:0370:7334</code>". See e.g. [[w:en:IPv6 address]]. These addresses should behave like any other IP address: You can leave messages on their talk pages; you can track their contributions; you can block them. *In the mid term, some user scripts and tools will need to be adapted for IPv6.

==Lessons on community building==
Dear all,
Assamese Wikipedia has seen phenomenal growth in the past one year. It currently has 31 active editors and 6 Wikiprojects (from 10 editors and no project in November 2011.) Their average monthly edits increased from 3000 in April 2011 to 5000 in November 2011. Congratulations, Assamese Community!
[https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/India_Program/Team India Program] worked closely the [http://as.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E0%A6%AC%E0%A7%87%E0%A6%9F%E0%A7%81%E0%A6%AA%E0%A6%BE%E0%A6%A4 Assamese community] - and this work was part of [https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Shiju Shiju]'s pilot focused on [http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/India_Program/Pilot_Designs/Basic_Community_Building basic community building]. There are several lessons for how small (and larger) communities can be built. It is worth reflecting on what inspired this progress, and to share these with all other communities.

New editors across Indic Wikipedias often face problems while editing for which need they help. However, most don't know where they can ask questions or get clarifications as they are usually unfamiliar with village pumps or mailing lists or even talk pages on basic editing. Many existing editors want to help new editors and could appreciate a central place where they can meet and help new editors. India Program has started a pilot to support the Odia community's help desk, [[:or:WP:CS|Chatasabha]]. (Incidentally, "Chata" means student and "Sabha" means community, in Odia.) This pilot will build on the community's existing efforts - and seeks to provide a structured way of designing and running a Help Desk. It takes learnings from English Wikipedia's [[:w:WP:TH|Tea House]] as well as other experiences on Help Desk and similar services.
 
 
The Help Desk that is being piloted is user friendly, has guidelines to provide simple answers to new editors and tries to manage the work load of existing community members by providing ready answers to frequently asked questions. The user friendliness of the Help Desk is in the form of being able to ask questions without getting stuck on Wiki markups as well as illustrated answers to some questions.

શરૂઆતની પરિચયાતમક ચર્ચાઓ બાદ પછી શાળા ના અધ્યાપકો અને શિક્ષકોએ ગુજરાતી વિકિપીડિયા અને ભાષા પરનાં પ્રભુતવ ને પ્રાધાન્ય આપવા બાબતે ખૂબ જ ઉત્સાહજનક અને સકારાત્મક પ્રતિસાદ આપ્યો.
તેઓએ એ મુલાકાત દરમ્યાન જ ગુજરાતી વિકિપીડિયા પરના યોગદાનકર્તા ની સંખ્યા વધારવા માટે ગુજરાતી માધ્યમ ની ૧૦ શાળાઓ માં એક નિબંધ સ્પર્ધા યોજાવાનાં આયોજન વિષે પણ નક્કર સુચનો રજૂ કર્યાં.
 
આ મુલાકાત માં વિકિપીડિયા તરફથી નૂપુર રાવલ, હર્ષ કોઠારી , કોનારક રત્નાકર અને હું ઉપસ્થિત હતા. અમને તેમનો આ પ્રસ્તાવ ખૂબ ગમ્યો. પણ કોનારકે કહ્યા મુજબ, આપના ગુજરાતી વિકિપીડિયાના હાલના સભ્યોની મદદ વિના આ કાર્યક્રમ સફળ થવો મુશ્કેલ જ નહિ પણ અશક્ય છે. અંગ્રેજી વિકિપીડિયા ઉપર આવો એક કાર્યક્રમ થયો હતો જેમાં ૧૫૦૦ બાળકોએ લેખ લખ્યા અને ઘણી બધી મુશ્કેલી ઉભી થયી હતી. એટલે અમે ગુજરાતી માટે ફક્ત ૨૦ બાળકો નો પ્રસ્તાવ આપ્યો, જે પોતાના શિક્ષકો અને આપ સભ્યોની દેખરેખ હેઠળ ૨૦ લેખ ઉપર કામ કરશે જેથી કરીને આપણા અત્યારના લેખોને કોઈ પણ નુકસાન ના થાય. આ બાળકો ને પહેલા ગુજરાતી ટાઈપીંગ, વિકિપીડિયા ના નિયમો અને માહિતી શોધવા ની તાલીમ મળશે.
 
જો આ કાર્યક્રમ ખરેખર સફળ થાય તો આપણને ગુજરાત સરકાર અને બીજી શાળાઓની મદદથી આપણે આ પ્રયોગને ગુજરાતની શાળાઓ સુધી પણ વિસ્તૃત કરી શકીએ. મળશે. સાથે સાથે, ગુજરાતી વિકિપીડિયા ઉપર નવયુવાનોનો જુસ્સો આવી જશે અને આપણી યોગદાન સંખ્યા ઘણી વધશે!
આ અઠવાડિયાથી અમે અમદાવાદમાં સ્થિત સભ્યો અને શાળા પ્રતિનિધિ શરૂમાં નક્કી કરાયેલ ૧૦ શાળાઓ ની મુલાકાત લઇશું. વિકિપીડિયા આપણા સૌ માટે મુક્ત છે છતાં, આપણી આજ્ઞા અને આપણા વિચારો જાણ્યાં વગર આ કાર્યક્રમ આગળ ના વધી શકે.

Already in 2012-13, its recommendations will guide the decisions about the distribution of over 10 million US dollars among the Foundation, chapters and other [[m:Funds_Dissemination_Committee/Framework_for_the_Creation_and_Initial_Operation_of_the_FDC#Eligible_fund-seeking_entities|eligible entities]].
 
Now, seven capable, knowledgeable and trustworthy community members are sought to volunteer on the initial Funds Dissemination Committee. It is expected to take up its work in September. In addition, a community member is sought to be the [[m:Funds_Dissemination_Committee/Framework_for_the_Creation_and_Initial_Operation_of_the_FDC#FDC_Ombudsperson|Ombudsperson]] for the FDC process. [https://blog.wikimedia.org/2012/07/24/chronicling-the-crafts-indias-first-glam-initiative/ Here's] a blog post cum report on India's first GLAM initiative at the National Crafts Museum! The program started out in English but was taken forward in Hindi to suit the staff members who have been enthusiastically creating articles and editing in Hindi Wikipedia! The program has been a bold step to prove that GLAM can very well happen in India - with its own design and structure and it has also given the Hindi community a precious gift of 6 new editors.
 
A special thanks to [[User: Roboture]] who has been with us in each and every meet and helped train editors, [[User:Yann]] for his first set of invaluable Commons contributions and to [[User:Aniruddhajnu]] and [[User:Siddhartha Ghai]] for coming down to the museum to inspire the staff members.

As some of you might already have heard Wikimedia Deutschland is working on a new Wikimedia project. It is called [[m:Wikidata]]. The goal of Wikidata is to become a central data repository for the Wikipedias, its sister projects and the world. In the future it will hold data like the number of inhabitants of a country, the date of birth of a famous person or the length of a river. These can then be used in all Wikimedia projects and outside of them.
 
The project is divided into three phases and "we are getting close to roll-out the first phase". The phases are:
# language links in the Wikipedias (making it possible to store the links between the language editions of an article just once in Wikidata instead of in each linked article)
# infoboxes (making it possible to store the data that is currently in infoboxes in one central place and share the data)
# lists (making it possible to create lists and similar things based on queries to Wikidata so they update automatically when new data is added or modified)

The Wikimedia Foundation's Fundraising team have begun our 'User Experience' project, with the goal of understanding the donation experience in different countries outside the USA and enhancing the localization of our donation pages. I am searching for volunteers to spend 30 minutes on a Skype chat with me, reviewing their own country's donation pages. It will be done on a 'usability' format (I will ask you to read the text and go through the donation flow) and will be asking your feedback in the meanwhile.
 
The only pre-requisite is for the volunteer to actually live in the country and to have access to at least one donation method that we offer for that country (mainly credit/debit card, but also real-time banking like IDEAL, E-wallets, etc...) so we can do a live test and see if the donation goes through. ''All volunteers will be reimbursed of the donations that eventually succeed'' (and they will be low amounts, like 1-2 dollars)

I am (still) searching for volunteers to spend some time on a Skype chat with me, reviewing their own country's donation pages. It will be done on a 'usability' format (I will ask you to read the text and go through the donation flow) and will be asking your feedback in the meanwhile.
 
The only pre-requisite is for the volunteer to actually live in the country and to have access to at least one donation method that we offer for that country (mainly credit/debit card, but also real time banking like IDEAL, E-wallets, etc...) so we can do a live test and see if the donation goes through. **All volunteers will be reimbursed of the donations that eventually succeed (and they will be very low amounts, like 1-2 dollars)**

There is [[m:Requests for comment/Activity levels of advanced administrative rights holders|a new request for comment]] on Meta-Wiki concerning the removal of administrative rights from long-term inactive Wikimedians. Generally, this proposal from stewards would apply to wikis without an administrators' review process.
 
We are also compiling a [[m:Talk:Requests for comment/Activity levels of advanced administrative rights holders|list of projects]] with procedures for removing inactive administrators on the talk page of the request for comment. Feel free to add your project(s) to the list if you have a policy on administrator inactivity.
 
All input is appreciated. The discussion may close as soon as 21 May 2013 (2013-05-21), but this will be extended if needed.

તાજેતરમાં મારી પત્નિને 'દઉ' શબ્દ લખતાં પડતી મુશ્કેલી જોઇને આ બગ-ખરાબી મેં અહીં [https://github.com/wikimedia/jquery.ime/pull/256 ગીટહબ પુલ વિનંતિ] વડે સરખી કરી છે. જોકે, વધુ પ્રતિભાવ માટે અહીં નોંધ મૂકી રહ્યો છું.

[[Template:Convert]] can be used to convert between different units of measurement. That template is very complex (it has thousands of subpages if all units are supported), and it would be difficult to fix all problems so that the output is properly displayed here.
 
I have developed a module as an alternative to the templates. The module has several advantages, including the fact that only a very small number of pages need to be maintained, and that the module can readily be adapted so that all text displayed by convert is in Gujarati, and all text used in the convert wikitext can also be in Gujarati if wanted.

CIS-A2K is organising a 4 day '''Train the Trainer (TTT)''' program in Bangalore during first week of October 2013. The idea of the program is to build capacity and enable community members to conduct outreach sessions independently or with minimal support to introduce Wikipedia to prospective editors in their respective Indian languages.
 
By way of this program, CIS-A2K wants to support and enable community members who might be interested to conduct Wikipedia outreach sessions in their own cities/languages. The event is open to all Wikimedia volunteers from India who can and want to support outreach events in the coming year.

Let me re-iterate, that changes that you did, howsoever good in the intention, are serving the purpose for the limited set of places (i.e. the places which are on shore and has the sea on west, south or southwest side. ) only.
