કપડાથી છાણેલી દહીંમાં સાકર ઉમેરીને તેને અત્યંત જોરથી હલાવીને મિશ્ર કરવામાં આવે છે. હેન્ડ બ્લેંડર પણ વાપરી શકાય છે. છેવટે તેમાં એલચી અને કેસર ઉમેરવામાં આવે છે. આ વાનગી ઠંડી ઠંડી પીરસાય છે.ગુજરાતી ભોજનમાં પુરીને સાઈડડીશ તરીકે પુરી સાથે (ખાસ કરીને "ખાજા પુરી" સાથે) કે જમ્યાબાદના મિષ્ટાન (ડેઝર્ટ)તરીકે પણ ખાઈ શકાય છે.આને શાકાહારી ગુજરાતી થાળી ના એક ભાગ તરીકે હોટેલોમાં સામાન્ય રીતે પીરસવામાં આવે છે.લગ્ન સમારંભમાં આ વાનગી લોકપ્રિય છે. આને ઠંદો પાડી પીરસવામાં આવે છે. તીખાં મસાલેદાર શાક જેવી વાનગીઓનો આ પ્રતિ આહાર બની જાય છે.
આનું એક પ્રખ્યાત વિવિધ રૂપ આમ્ર ખંડ તરીકે પ્રખ્યાત છે જેમામ્જેમાં શ્રીખમ્ડશ્રીખંડ સાથે આંબાનો ગર પણ નખાય છે, અને તેને બ્લેંડરથી ભેળવાય છે.ગુજરાતના અન્ય ભાગમાં મઠો તરીકે ઓળખાતી વાનગી લોકપ્રિય છે. બનાવવાની કૃતિ તો એકજ છે પણ મઠોમાં તાજા ફળોના ટુકડા અવશ્ય નખાય છે.
 
A popular variation is Amrakhand, which is Shrikhand mixed with mango pulp, and made homogeneous with a blender. In few parts of [[Gujarat]] another variant of Shrikhand Matho [મઠો] is also very popular and served as sweet dish or dessert. Preparation method is almost same but some fresh fruits are always added in Matho invariably.
 
શ્રીખંડ આ વાનગી એવી સર્વતોમુખી વાનગી છે કે તમાં તમારી કલ્પના સાથે જોઈએ તેટલા વિવિધતા આણી શકાય છે. હાલમાં મહારાષ્ટ્રમાં શ્રુતિ શ્રીખંડ એ ફ્રુટ ખંડબહાર પાડ્યું છે જેમાં સફરજન, ચીકુ, અનાનસના ટુકડાં આવે છે. અમુઅક નીજી ઉત્પાદકો સ્ટ્રોસ્ત્રોબેરી શ્રીખંડ પણ બનાવે છે.
Shrikhand's recipe is so versatile that it can practically take any taste that an imaginative person can create. Off late, Sphurti shrikhand (Maharashtra) has also introduced Fruitkhand which is a tongue-tickling shrikhand with pieces of apple, chikku, pineapple etc. In unorganised sector, even Strawberry shrikhand is available.
