ધવલ સુધન્વા વ્યાસ આ મારૂમારું પુરુપૂરું નામ છે. એક ગુજરાતી હોવાને નાતે નામ અને અટકની વચ્ચે પિતાનું નામ લખવામાં મને જરા પણ સંકોચ નથી, બલ્કે ગર્વ છે. મારો ભાષા સાથેનો પ્રેમ તો ઘણો જૂનો છે, પણ વિદેશની ધરતિધરતી પર વસ્યા પછી વધુ ગાઢ થઇથઈ રહ્યો છે. મારો જન્મ [[અમદાવાદ]] શહેરનાંશહેરના [[ખાડીયા]] વિસ્તારની નાના સુથારવાડાની પોળ (ખરેખર તો નાનો સુથાર વાડોસુથારવાડો નામ હતું)માં થયો હતો જ્યાં મેમેં મારૂમારું બાળપણ વિતાવ્યું અને પછી વસ્ત્રાપુર જઇજઈ વસ્યાવસ્યાં. ૨૦૦૫ ની૨૦૦૫ની આખરમાં હું [[લંડન]] આવ્યો ત્યારથી અહીં જ છું. મારી લેખનની ભાષા ક્યારેય સારી નહોતી, ખાસ કરીને અક્ષરોમાં હું ગાંધીજીને પણ સારા કહેવડાવતો હતો અને જોડણીની ભુલોભૂલો તો ખરી જ. લેખનનું મારુમારું જ્ઞાન તથા ભાષા પ્રત્યેનો પ્રેમ અને રુચીરુચિ વધારવા માટે મારા એમ.એસ.સી. (M.Sc.) ના પ્રધ્યાપિકા (Professor)પ્રાધ્યાપિકા ડૉ. ભારતીબેન દેશપાંડેનો હું હંમેશા ઋણીઋણિ રહીશ.
My full name is Dhaval Sudhanva Vyas. Being a Gujarati, we use father's name as our middle name, and I am proud to still practice that. I always loved my native language Gujarati (ગુજરાતી), which increased after arriving on the foreign land of UK. I was born in Nana Sutharvada ni Pol in Khadia, Ahmedabad and later moved to Vastrapur, Ahmedabad. I came to UK in late 1995 and since then am settled in London. Though I loved Gujarati and had a vast vocabulary, my writing was not very good, especially I used to commit many grammatical, including spelling, mistakes and my handwritingshand writings were at times next to impossible to read. I will always remain indebted to my M.Sc. teacher Dr. Bharatiben Deshpande for improving my affection to the language as well as knowledge of grammar.
