અઢારમી સદીના મધ્યમાં ધોરાજી [[જૂનાગઢ રજવાડું|જૂનાગઢ રજવાડા]]થી કુંભાજી દ્વિતિયના [[ગોંડલ રજવાડું|ગોંડલ રજવાડા]] વડે હસ્તગત કરાયું હતું.<ref>Imperial gazetteer of India: provincial series - Volume 9 - Page 395</ref> [[ગોંડલ]] નરેશ ભગવતસિંહજીનો જન્મ ધોરાજીના દરબારગઢમાં થયો હતો. તેમણે નગર રચના વિભાગ શરૂ કર્યો હતો અને ગોંડલ, ધોરાજી, [[ઉપલેટા]] અને [[પાટણવાવ (તા. ધોરાજી)|પાટણવાવ]]ના વિકાસ અને દેખરેખ માટે નિયમો અમલમાં મૂક્યા હતા.
