પંજાબી લોકો
પંજાબી લોકો (પંજાબી: پنجابی, ਪੰਜਾਬੀ), અથવા પંજાબીઓ, એક ભારતીય-આર્યન વંશીય જૂથ છે, જે મુખ્યત્વે ભારતીય ઉપખંડનો પંજાબ પ્રદેશમાં વસે છે કે પંજાબી ભાષા બોલે છે.[૧૭] ફારસી ભાષામાં "પંજાબ"નો શાબ્દિક અર્થ "પાંચ પાણીઓની જમીન" છે: પંજ ("પાંચ") આબ ("પાણી").[૧૮] તુર્કી અને ફારસી શાસકોએ આ પ્રદેશ માટે "પંજાબ"નું નામ આપ્યું હતું,[૧૯] અને આ નામ ખાસ કરીને મુઘલ સામ્રાજ્યની હકૂમત દરમ્યાન લોકપ્રિય હતું.[૨૦] પંજાબને ઘણી વખતથી ભારત અને પાકિસ્તાનનું ખાસ કૃષિક્ષેત્ર તરીકે ઓળખવામાં આવ્યું છે.[૨૧][૨૨] વસ્તી મુજબ પંજાબિઓ દુનિયામાં 8મું સૌથી મોટું વંશીય જૂથ છે.[૨૩]
