રાષ્ટ્રીય ધોરીમાર્ગ 4 (NH 4) પશ્ચિમ અને દક્ષિણ ભારતમાં આવેલો મહત્વનો રાષ્ટ્રીય ધોરીમાર્ગ છે. રાષ્ટ્રીય ધોરીમાર્ગ 4 ભારતનાં સૌથી વધુ વસતી ધરાવતા મુખ્ય દશ શહેરોમાંના ચાર - મુંબઈ, પુણે, બેંગલોર, અને ચેન્નઈને જોડે છે. રાષ્ટ્રીય ધોરીમાર્ગ 4 1,235 km (767 mi) લંબાઈ ધરાવતો અને મહારાષ્ટ્ર, કર્ણાટક, આંધ્ર પ્રદેશ અને તમિલનાડુ રાજ્યોમાંથી પસાર થતો ધોરીમાર્ગ છે.

NH 4 constitutes roughly 90% of the સ્વર્ણિમ ચતુર્ભુજ's મુંબઈ-ચેન્નઈ segment. As a part of this project NH 4 has been widened from two lane single carriageway to four lane dual carriageway. The highway is known as પુણે-બેંગલોર( PB ) Road in some parts of કર્ણાટક where it passes through. The મુંબઈ-પુણે section of the highway was supplemented by the મુંબઈ-પુના એક્સપ્રેસમાર્ગ in 2000.The highway passes through populated towns and cities of મહારાષ્ટ્ર, Karnataka and આંધ્ર પ્રદેશ namely સતારા, કરાડ, કોલ્હાપૂર, બેલગામ, ધારવાડ, હુબલી, ચિત્તૂર, દેવનગર, ચિત્રદુર્ગ and તુંકુર. The બેંગલોર-ચેન્નઈ section of the highway is supplemented by the triangle of રાષ્ટ્રીય ધોરીમાર્ગs NH7, NH46, and returns to NH4 at વાલાજપેટ in Vellore district. In some areas, one side of the highway is made of concrete while the other side is of tar.

The NH4 by-passes પુણે city from Dehu Road to Katraj. The પુણે bypass is 4 lane.There is a partial service lane which cannot be called as motorable. Now, it is being widened by two more lanes, making it a 6 lane road from Dehu road to Katraj since it is also used by the people of પુણે as the city is growing on the other side of the highway too. NH4 now also bypasses the busy Katraj ghat in પુણે by a Tunnel which saves almost one hour of travel on NH4.

NH4 bypasses સાંગલી at about 40 km (25 mi). There are two exits for સાંગલી-Miraj twin cities on NH4. Both exits form a triangle with NH4 and સાંગલી is about 40 km (25 mi) from each exit.
